Camera porn...

Almost every photographer has in one way or another passed through a period of heavy camera porn addiction. And this is usually the period of his first serious investment on gear.
The choises are many, the budget even though, tight at first, turns to expand upwards, and you know that you make a choise not for just a camera, but for a system, as you will start building on it.
As usual comes with big choices in life, you start investigating, reading reviews, watching videos, and before you realise it, you have become a camera porn addict. You don't care anymore for taking photos, but you need to see more gear, more videos, and keep comparing, MPs, fps, weather sealing, viewfinder quality, ISO, dynamic range, price, price in the grey market, price for used.
Is camera porn a negative situation then? I would say, it depends. If your real target is to get equipment and start shooting, and camera pron prevents you from getting there, then it certainly does not help towards a productive result.
If, however, you manage to get through this first obstacle and you get your gear out and shooting, then camera porn is a good habbit to keep you up to date to the latest developments, in this fast evolving industry.
As with many other things in life, we can do it, and try not to overdo it...
Not until we get our next most typical habit, our GAS...
